A Coastal Journey with the Soul of Quinta do Damasco

Experience one of Portugalโ€™s most breathtaking coastal routes from (Nazarรฉ to Peniche) with the peaceful heart of Quinta do Damasco in Pataias as your home base. This unique stretch of the Silver Coast blends dramatic ocean scenery, authentic fishing culture, and quiet rural landscapes that reflect the true essence of central Portugal.

Quinta do Damasco, surrounded by olive trees and the soft rhythm of country life, sits just minutes from Nazarรฉ. The contrast is magical: calm mornings at the farm followed by the powerful Atlantic views that make Nazarรฉ world-famous. From Pataias to the sea, itโ€™s a journey that feels natural, effortless, and deeply connected to the land.

Nazarรฉ: Where the Atlantic Shows Its PowerYour Heading

    Nazare

Your coastal adventure begins in Nazarรฉ, home to the legendary giant waves shaped by the Nazarรฉ Canyon. From the iconic Sรฃo Miguel Arcanjo lighthouse, you can watch the ocean in its purest form wild, endless, and unforgettable. Itโ€™s a place that inspires reflection, just as the serenity of Quinta do Damasco inspires creativity, rest, and reconnection.

A Scenic Route Through Villages, Forests, and Beaches

Driving south, the coastline opens into a tapestry of dunes, pine forests, and small villages. Places like Sรฃo Martinho do Porto and Foz do Arelho offer calmer bays and beautiful viewpoints. This section of the route is perfect for slow travel: spontaneous cafรฉ stops, seafood tastings, and quiet moments watching the tide roll in.

Peniche: Surf Culture, Fishing Traditions, and Berlengas

Peniche, officially the City of Peniche, is a seaside municipality and a city in the Oeste region, in the historical province of Estremadura, and in the Leiria District. It has 26,431 inhabitants, in an area of 77.55 kmยฒ. The city itself has a population of about 15,600 inhabitants.

In Peniche, the energy rises again. Known for its world-class waves at Supertubos and the relaxed surf vibe of Baleal, Peniche remains deeply rooted in its fishing heritage. The harbor, seafood restaurants, and boat trips to the Berlengas Islands add authentic flavor to the journey a simplicity that mirrors the honest, earthy character of Pataias and Quinta do Damasco.

Why This Route Belongs to Quinta do Damasco

What makes this coastline unforgettable isnโ€™t just the scenery โ€” itโ€™s the balance it creates.
From peaceful mornings among olive trees at Quinta do Damasco to golden sunsets over the Atlantic, every part of the journey feels connected. Itโ€™s the perfect combination of countryside comfort and ocean adventure, ideal for travelers seeking nature, culture, and genuine Portuguese experiences.

For us, this coastline is more than a route.
Itโ€™s part of our home and weโ€™re excited to share it with you.

From Code to Coast: How the Syrian Refugee Family Behind Tayybeh Built Quinta Do Damasco, a Cultural Sanctuary in Portugal

Introduction: A New Chapter of Resilience

In 2015, our lives changed forever. We are Alan and Ramia, a Syrian refugee family and both qualified Computer Engineers, who found safety and hope on the shores of Portugal. Our journey led us, in 2018, to found TAYYBEH, a beloved, HACCP-certified Syrian restaurant in Lisbon.

But the global pause of the pandemic brought a profound realization: we yearned to disconnect from the hustle and reconnect with the healing power of nature. This deep desire sparked a new mission: to create a sanctuary where heritage could flourish and cultures could meet. This is the story of how Quinta Do Damascoโ€”our farm, our home, our luxury glamping retreatโ€”was born on the beautiful Silver Coast of Portugal.

The Name: Apricot Heart, Portuguese Soil

The name Quinta Do Damasco holds our entire history. Damascus is our cherished city of origin. In a twist of fate that felt like destiny, ‘Damasco’ is also the Portuguese word for Apricot. This connection is significant: Damascus is globally famous for its exquisite apricots, which we use to create the traditional, sun-dried delicacy, Kamar Aldin.

To honour this beautiful synergy and our new start, the first tree we planted on our farm was a resilient apricot treeโ€”a symbol of fruitfulness, sweetness, and hope.

Your Luxury Glamping Escape: The 90mยฒ Dome

We poured our engineering minds and personal passion into crafting the ultimate retreat experience. We didn’t just buy a tent; we custom-built a Glamping Dome (90mยฒ) with the help of our friend Nico, blending the beauty of the outdoors with uncompromising comfort.
